First of all—I am, in fact, alive and blogging. I know you sweeties must have been so concerned and may have even canceled your internet service due to lack of blue suedeness… but I hope you weren’t that dramatic. Anywho. If you are a Memphian then you know how crazy this fabulous city becomes during and around the month of May. I will catch you up on all the fun May brought us this year later (I will. I promise. I will!) but for now let’s celebrate Memorial Day Weekend, the fact that June is knocking at our door and Captain America-esq swimwear!
A swimsuit can say a lot about a person. Are you a super trendy, boho beach goddess in a fringe halter? Me either. Are you a PCB spring-breaker with a neon string bikini? Yes you are. Don’t lie to me. Last year I was an ultra-glam, animal-print-clad poolside lounger. This year I’m looking for something a little more All-American.
J. Crew’s catalogs have been so amazing, inspiring, jealousy-inducing lately that it really should come as no surprise that my perfect summer 2012 swimmy was living inside their latest edition. And available “Online Only.” Jerks. So, in the All-American spirit of “I want it for less and I want it yesterday!” I set out to find something similar. Macy’s swimwear section was a warzone. Don’t even go there after the first payday in March. And to the women shopping there—what the heck are you doing? Flinging the pieces around the store will not make them fit you any better. Dillard’s featured the exact same stock as last year. (Yes, you too can be an ultra-glam, animal-print-clad poolside lounger this year.) Since Memphis proper has literally no other stores, I went to the next natural place, that giant new Target.
These little Target separates are supremely inexpensive, mix and matchable and every bit as Captain American-y as my first choice. And since there is a solid chance I may wake up tomorrow and want my swimmy to say something totally different, this was a much better choice.
Hooray! Are you excited for me? Was that the longest swimwear post you’ve ever read? Did you continue reading thinking that I might say something more meaningful or witty? Sorry. I have missed you guys though and your delusional belief that I might say something meaningful or witty! But keep reading! Maybe the next post will be great!
